On Monday of 21 October 2019, at the NSSF Governing Body room, Mr Thoung Samnang, Deputy Director of Rehabilitation Division of NSSF, shared some experiences with approximately 20 officials and staff of Rehabilitation Division after he had attended the training course on Capacity Building for Medical Rehabilitation Specialist against Industrial Accident in Republic of Korea from 18 September to 05 October 2019 prepared by Korea Worker’s Compensation and Welfare Corporation (COMWEL) and sponsored by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in order to strengthen capacity of the NSSF officials and staff for providing rehabilitation service to NSSF member with effectiveness and qualification.
The essence of this experience sharing is the rehabilitation service provision to workers under Workers Compensation Insurance (WCI) of Korea and managed by Korea Worker’s Compensation and Welfare (COMWEL).
Providing rehabilitation service at rehabilitation hospital of COMWEL focuses on workers suffering from work injury. After receiving medical rehabilitation services, the workers can return to work or society.
There are three kinds of rehabilitation services in Korea including:
- Medical Rehabilitation services help the workers suffering from work injury rehabilitate body functions and reduce disability degree.
- Social Rehabilitation and Welfare service help people with disability manage their scare and tension against workplace accident in order to go back to society.
- Occupational rehabilitation services help people with disability return to work.
